Purpose:

I designed and implemented a Python script for the Drivetrain subteam of Olin's Baja SAE team that takes a CSV of gears and their geometric specifications (Number of teeth, Module, etc.) as well as the allowable tooth stress of each gear before a tooth yields and outputs a list of gear combinations that meets any design requirements specified (Factor of Safety, Center to center length, etc.) as well as gear reduction requirements. The list can then be exported to gear product numbers so the specific CAD files of each viable gear can be imported for design use when creating the CAD of the entire gearbox assembly for the car.
